It is summer in Colorado, so it is time to get outside and spend some of your free time in the water! Colorado gets a bad wrap for having a dry climate, but there are many wonderful places to go swimming. In fact, we've gotten more rain this summer than usual and several popular swimming areas have seen an increase in elevation. Aside from many beautiful man-made reservoirs and marinas, there are also a ton of natural bodies for water in the centennial state. Continue reading to learn more about two of the most popular swimming spots in Colorado.
Popular Swimming Spots in Colorado
One of the most popular swimming spots in Colorado is Adrenaline Falls. Adrenaline Falls is located about 2 miles down Lime Creek Road in Durango Colorado. What makes this area a favorite among locals is cliff jumping. This can be done from heights of 15 to 40 feet above the water. Remember to bring durable footwear as the route down is steep and surfaces may be slippery. Lime Creek has a nearby Campground just south of the falls, which is convenient for anyone wanting to stay in the area for a few days. Also, Little Molas Lake north of Adrenaline Falls has campgrounds. Bring a tent and some swimming gear and enjoy the beautiful Colorado outdoors!
Another popular spot is Boulder Creek. Boulder Creek is a 31.4-mile-long creek that winds its way through the city of Boulder. Since the creek runs through the metro area, residents of the town can easily access the water during spring and summer. This creek is big enough for all sorts of activities like tubing, kayaking, rafting, and of course swimming. Check out the White Water Tube company in Boulder. They rent out a lot of equipment, like tubes, kayaks, and other water-related activity gear. If you're planning a weekend, there are many hotels and camping areas near the creek. Plus, you'll be able to enjoy the wonderful restaurants and shops in Boulder.
